Canalside Marina, Netherland
Project type
Waterfront
Date
2011
Location
Drimmelen, Netherland
Drimmelen is an unknown town to a large audience, despite it’s the biggest marina in Europe and its stunning environmental location as a gateway to ‘Biesbosch’ National Park, a willow forest with a large inland marshland and river delta. The dike system in Netherland is necessary to preserve the land from the water but separates marina and town zone and their activity. The project is proposing to reorganize the site with new armature of ‘water’ that is piercing 2 zones and polder landscape and weaving with the Raised middle pier park of marina. This armature creates new identification of Drimmelen that have power to attract people into site while reorganize the dyke system.
